“Ouran Highschool Host Club” has been around for 24 years now and has accumulated a large following that has been enjoying the comic’s often racy content. To date, the anime has had over 800 episodes aired on TV and cable channels such as Cartoon Network and Crunchyroll.

Shueisha originally published the first chapter of “Ouran Highschool Host Club” in their seinen manga magazine, Weekly Shōnen Jump, in 1990. The manga was well-received and received at the Silver Awards. In 1992, it spawned the Ouran Academy Host Club spin-off series, which followed a certain member of the Host Club after graduation.

The Author and His Inspiration for Manga

Bisco Hatori was born in 1961 and started writing manga in 1989 after he had finished university. He chose the name, Bisco Hatori, because he had just finished watching the movie “Beethoven,” and the name, Haruhi Fujioka, is his mother’s name. Hatori started out publishing his work for fans of Japanese adult comic, before his work was picked up by Shueisha.

The Reasons Behind The Title

The reason why Haruhi became the host of the club is because Hatori thought the term host club was a very interesting concept. As Bisco Hatori told NPR,

“We were just sort of having fun with it. We thought, well, if it were girls they’d probably call it a hostess club. And it’s been interesting seeing how this has grown over time.

Why Did Ouran Become Popular?

It was because of Haruhi, the main character in the series. Haruhi was the girl that everyone looked up to, the star student. She was always high on self-confidence, never with a weak moment.

However, this does not necessarily mean that she is the nicest or the most perfect girl in the school. Quite the contrary; she can be quite annoying, to say the least. What can also be said is that Haruhi can become extremely jealous if people look at her for other reasons, such as her intelligence, or even her beauty. She may sometimes say “I hate you!” or tell others to go away, even when she is trying to compliment them.

On the other hand, Haruhi doesn’t want other people to become her rival or to feel any sort of hatred towards her.

What is The Main Theme of Ouran Highschool Host Club?

The main theme of the series is “Adolescence.” This theme centers around the fact that all six characters are coming of age at the same time and have the same feelings of awkwardness and embarrassment. Haruhi also understands that in order to see if Ouran is the school that she dreams of attending, she must participate in a very simple and ordinary activity for the host club. After it is show that she is a candidate, she gets the chance to participate in the adventures that they go on.

In the anime, there are many similarities to what Haruhi would experience at Ouran. Haruhi first meets a boy, Raito Yagami, and discovers that he is a member of the host club. During the opening episode, the first student is introduce, Koharu Kusumi.
