Who are some of your favorite characters so far?
Hajime Isayama, the author of the manga, mentioned that the characters Ema, Hanako, and Suguru are “like a puzzle which can’t be completed if they aren’t complete.” We’re definitely seeing some character growth with Hanako in this season so far, but so far the most popular character has been Hanako.
Hanako Has a Nice Dog!
You might be surprised to see a dog on this list, but Hanako’s dog is adorable. Her family’s cat died and so she adopted the dog. The cute pup is in a park near Hanako’s house and you can find him in the last scene of the episode, running around happily. Her dog looks just like the two boys from Attack on Titan so he definitely fits in.
See, Hanako Grew Up Outside of Tokyo
Not many kids in Japan can say they grew up outside of Tokyo.
Why should you binge watch the show now that it’s available on Netflix?
Anime classics are easy to binge watch because they typically take place over a short period of time. It’s possible to watch a whole season of Inuyasha in a day, or go through the entire first season of Fullmetal Alchemist in a few days. Hanako Kun has the same basic structure as these anime series, so you’ll want to watch it from the start if you can. It’s been almost two years since the anime first started, so if you’re worried about forgetting the story, you can always jump right back in and watch the first episode again.
Didn’t see the anime the first time around?
If you’re looking for a quick fix to get you through a winter break, Hanako Kun may be the perfect series for you! You may not have seen the anime before, so this is a great place to start.
Episode Two begins with a scene where Hanako and Ema prepare to go out with their classmates to a restaurant. At the end of the school day, Hanako sits at her desk in her room and cries, as the first string ends. The second string ends with her shaking the breathless violinist, Hana Yori Dango, and she finishes off the song with a smile.
Throughout the show, Hanako struggles to remember the closing theme song. She remembers hearing the song when she was a kid, but she can’t remember the words. Ema decides to help her remember by using the Magic Heart computer game app. They must all help her sing the lyrics to the song and give her the correct spelling. The real meaning of the lyrics finally come out and we see the rest of the story of Hanako’s life unfold.
